Charlie Fitz - Ampersand X Photoworks Residency

Since 2020, the Ampersand Foundation and Photoworks have collaborated to provide an annual residency and professaional development opportunity for artists working with photography.

Charlie Fitz (she/her/they) is a UK-based artist, arts practitioner, writer, and medical humanities postgraduate scholar. Her art draws on her academic research and personal experience of illness, disability, trauma, and care. Exploring narratives of illness, the destructive cultural legacy of hysteria, and the vocabulary and aesthetic of illness. Fitz's work mostly addresses the self through photography, film, collage, painting, and textiles.

Since 2019 her work has been shown in group exhibitions in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cincinnati, and online. Fitz has been commissioned by Unlimited and is a co-founding member of Resting Up.
